Something small .. but nonetheless very useful. One might say the degree of usability is in inverse proportion to its size :D

Great work!

Oh no. The instructions are like 10 pages long and even after reading it i didn't get this game. Managed to once interact with the dropping thingy. My line+circle thingy just disappeared after hitting the dropping piece of pixels. It is always good to show the game to your friend and see if they can play it or something. I'd love to give this a try but I can't read the instructions for second time. :)

Balooga, yeah, I was honestly tempted to. It was a lot of fun to develop last time in lisp _after_ I got the development system working, but this time I wanted it to just work in the browser rather than being a download. I really wish I could just write in my favorite language, and then compile my source code to whatever platform I'm targeting, e.g. write it in lisp then compile it to flash or javascript or whatever.

Thanks for the suggestion. I may experiment with the visual tweaks a little more ... it's true that a simple fade may actually look better, and less distracting. I might save the scale+fade for one of the effects in the planned 'psychedelic' mode :)

You can actually thank my girlfriend for the difficulty slope ... I forgot to credit her in the readme, but she played and rated the difficulty of each level, and I re-ordered them based on that :)

Like the gentler difficulty slope. :) However, I think it would look better if you just had them fade out and stay the same size, rather than shrink to the corner. Something about the change, just seems a little odd.

Sorry the technology ended up clobbering your work :(. My computer has a less severe case of the disease, making me think my minimalist game was only getting about 20 FPS instead of 60 for a while. Good luck getting it fixed and I hope you manage to get your completed game out.

I don't actually leave my monitors on all the time; they're usually set to go off after 5 minutes - but for the purpose of the timelapse being interesting, I disabled that over the 48h :)

Devon,

I haven't had a chance to try RubyGame yet, but it was one of the toolkits featured in a "Games on Ruby" video I watched somewhere that let me know about Gosu, RubyGame, Ogre, Shattered (?) and others perhaps. I happened to check out Gosu first and have stuck with that for a few months now.

I also have not learned python yet so I can't offer any comparisons in that department. I have really loved working with Ruby/Gosu for game dev because of how rapid it lets you work and get your ideas "down". I previously used C/(some C++) for game programming before that.
