At the moment are not enough server online especially for people like me who dont like time games. The marp server is just too laggy to play with more then 4 player or its just disappeared (maybe this is just a special problem on my place). And on the "great" pczone server, which is quite unplayable too, is a never ending game since a week.
Maybe someone of you guys knows somebody who knows somebody who knows somebody who is willing to support galcon setting up a new server...The situation now is just not cool... |

Hosting on mac seems to work fine for me... after making sure that the port 9031 is routed to the box in the router/firewall.
I run the server inside "screen", an app inside Terminal which keeps a "session"... like this:
* open terminal (or open ssh connection to the box+login)
* run command "screen"
* start server like instructed in the guide: /Applications/Galcon.app/Contents/MacOS/galcon server -name NAME -passwd PASSWORD -gtitle "TITLE" -nosound
* press Ctrl-A and then D to "detach" the screen
* now you can close the terminal (or ssh connection)
* return later to the same screen session with command "screen -r"...post updated on Sep 3, 2008 @ 10:27am |

Starting a game seemed to be so cpu-heavy operation (for the server) that client connection to server always timeouted when starting a game. However, one could still connect back to the server and start playing... |
