joel Joined: Oct 14, 2007 Posts: 5 Location: Sydney	Pektrus should not be allowed to have administrative access in Galcon. He constantly abuses that privilege. Today, he booted me as he claimed that i had suicided on him. It was a perfectly legitimate manouver to try and capture a planet after i wsa attack simultaneously by two other players. After telling him to relax, he booted me from the server. This was totally misappropriated abuse of that privilege. Philhassey please could you reccommend this to all users, or even create a system where people get banned for for abuse of priviliges like this. It ruins the game for people when they just want to have fun. Pektrus is way too competetive, and needs to relax more. He is so frustrated at being a bit of a noob at times in the game and takes it out on those around him. Thankyou, any comments are most welcome! post updated on Mar 16, 2008 @ 8:32pm reply

Now about the problem you guys are having with Pektrus... If you don't like him, then don't play on his server. If it's his server then it's his rules, and there's really no reason why you can't play elsewhere. If a boycott is in order, so be it. Pektrus: I don't think we've had this many complaints about ANY other admin, so we'd appreciate it if you could figure out why so many people are mad at you and then quit doing whatever it is that's ticking them off. If there are too many more complaints, you could very well have your server forcibly removed. We would hate to have to do that. I suggest you lay low and admin very loosely for a while so this can blow over. Also, I deleted the other thread that Dexter10 started under Mods because it didn't remotely belong there. Please try to post in a more appropriate spot next time please Dexter10. Also, make sure you're not getting mad over a /stop issue. Ending the game with the /stop command is perfectly acceptable, especially when there are people waiting to play. Edit: Let's please try to avoid flaming titles in the future as well. ONE SINGLE GAME! I kicked you after the game was over and before a new game was started... It was the lightest punishment that i can imagine... it wasnt even a kick during a game... I let you finish your game... BUT you heard Nanno, just dont play in Pektrus server, it is so easy... Im amazed why my server is always full... ------------------------- NANNO, i thought that i was doing a favor to Galcon comunity by having a good server 24/7 up and running. If you feel that you are making me a favor allowing me to have a server please just tell me that and I will remove my server. PS: nanno: is there any chance that i can have my name in the "recommended admin list"? Because if i lose my server i wont be admin nowhere else (with so many complains i feel that other admins will not give me admin in their servers, and i really need to admin something...) please, please... is it possible... It seems that EVERYONE has some complains about everyone... AND something very strange happened: i was playning with lemon and solomon, nice talk, all cool. We went to the three players ending, the kind that are balanced... after several moves, lemon was the clear winner... To speed up the game I attacked Solomon, and then surrendered... In this type of situation i prefer a quick lost, that way i can play more and win more. After i surrender, Lemon says: " you were warned several times about this and banned me..." No warning, no kick, no talk. Just ban in phil's server. Galcon really have a problem... Is there a solution? I dont know... I understand that admins are necessary, but.... 1) How about a voting system for kicks? some player opens a votation and all the others votes... And no one can open more than one votation that fails once a day 2) PHIL, make the queue (or at least the announcement in all servers that a game is about to start), that way the games would be with different players and this type of attrition would be very reduced... any more ideas...? Just please try not to tick people off or whatever because then we all have to hear them complain, and personally I'm quite tired of it. I'm in favor of fairly loose administration. "Suicide," for example, is defined VERY strictly in my book, and I will not even warn someone about it until at least the 3rd incident in a row, and only if they are an accomplished player. You, Pektrus, are very keen on calling "suicide" on players who may have merely made a mistake or taken revenge for one game. I remember that very distinctly from a few games we played together. As for the recommended admin list, for obvious reasons, I can't put anyone on there who is currently being accused of abuse. You need several solid players to vouch for you if you want to clear your name. Like I said before, I strongly suggest that you admin very loosely for awhile so you can duck under the radar and prove you're not a hothead. I simply cannot take your side against everyone else. reply

THIS is why I have trouble discerning who is right and who is wrong in all these disputes, or if everyone is right and/or wrong to some extent. This is a problem Pektrus. When you attack one player and surrender to end the game, you basically lose the chance of a win for the player you attacked. Just because the winner was obvious to you does not mean the winner was obvious to any of the other players. You don't know what tricks they may be up to, and the last thing you should do is purposely throw the game to the player you think is the clear winner. Lemonbrown himself obviously did not agree with your choice, and therefore you were banned because he was understandably frustrated. You're a good player who should know better than to make moves like that. If you think there is a clear winner, it is your job to either 1) surrender at once without attacking anyone, or 2) attack the winning player. Attacking the other "losing" player will only make everyone angry at you, so please don't ever try to end games that way. 1) How about a voting system for kicks? I already suggest this in the Admin Code of Conduct. You need to try this system on your own server because, whether they are true or not, it seems there have been several complaints about you kicking people off without enough warning or reason. If you make it your policy to get input first, I think you'll find that you have far fewer complaints against you. reply

Gues what, i cant joy this srver because I am banned again without any reason, without any word. I think PEKTRUS learn nothing. It is time to shut down this server forever. reply

Whenever i enter my server and you are unbanned i will ban you again, no warning, no talk. Simply BAN. NANNO, is your position about admin list final? Please i REALLY need to admin something... Cant you vouch for me? look at my historic... (if you answer again seriously, i will start putting smileys in my posts, so you can get a clue...) Again, giving me the advantage. Of course, i asked why, complained, blah blah blah. Well, all behold, you do it again. So i said, ya know what, ive warned you, and then bam. You got banned. So, I thought I followed the rules, quite well. And its odd, when me and solomon call you out on this stuff, you say, "I KNOW". You say you know what you are doing is wrong, But you do nothing to change it. =( reply

Secondly i would like to apologize to anyone who feels deeply hurt by some of the things that i have said. I regret it if i have hurt people's feelings with some of the things that i have said! Please be assured everything i say is in the spirit of the game and i believe i bring a level of entertainment to an otherwise mundane and generic chat thread... Thirdly i would like to recommend that i be banned for a period, as i feel that i deserve it. No one has banned me yet, i feel that after tonight i should be. I shouldn't be banned for venting to those few players (TOS and his mates) who ruin the game for other people, but i should be banned for bringing to Galcon an element of un-fun for those cool players who i respect and those young players who i should be setting a better example to. I want to try to stop the escalation of the issues that are arising in the game with regards to insults and gang-ups. I am a one man team, but group suicides on me by certain players who i wont mention in hope of allaying more discontent are unacceptable. I am happy to be banned if it satisfies those who feel unhappy about my conduct towards them, just don't hold a grudge. I had a think about it, and there are people who are pieces of ** in real life and in this virtual game chat, maybe i am one of those, but i am not a bad player and all this bull** is taking away from the true spirit of the game. I started Galcon because it is a cool concept, however i feel that the feeling is fading as a result of myself and others, BAN ME AND BAN TOS, LEVKOH, PEKTRUS, and there is one more who will come to me eventually, i will recommend him when i remember. Please guys vent your frustrations, get it all out, do whatever, but when the punishment ends get a grip, get a life and get over yourselves, it is only a game. I mean, you obviously seem to know what you did wrong. That's great! Don't do it again! Now get out there and have some fun! If you truly have a Galcon problem I would suggest you quit playing the net game for a few weeks just to cool down and get some perspective, and to allow anyone who hates your guts right now to forget about it. You can even uninstall the game from your computer, but there's no reason to ask for a ban. As for the "BAN TOS, LEVKOH, PEKTRUS," we will not ban anyone on the word of a single other player, especially over a single bad day. For all you know they may have been drinking a bit much at the time, or maybe their dog died, or their mother-in-law called. I suggest you try to make it up to those guys. Even if they were clearly in the wrong, you can still be the mature one by being the first to extend the olive branch. Just my 2 cents. reply

Is there a private email i can use to speak with Phil? Another thing you can do is just change your name and don't tell anyone. Keep a low profile so people don't recognize you, and you're good to go. If you start being cocky or arguing with people though, they will recognize you, so better not too talk much. It's a good way to still play while avoiding enemies (done it before myself a couple of times and it works like a charm). If you want to contact Phil, the best way is to use the "Contact" form. reply

JELLY WAFFLE TIME !!!! weeeeeeeeeeeeee Galcon is a great game to play competitively, and it's easy to get over serious about it... I am completely guilty of that, past and present. But it's also fun to play a little more light heartedly, just for messing around. I think we need to remember that sometimes that's all other people are trying to do, because however skilled you are at playing, and whatever strategies you have at hand, you are still very much relying on other players to play with a common goal, which they may or may not do purposely or accidentally. So, with that in mind, perhaps it's best to go by two aliases at least... one for competitive playing that you can use more sparingly and cautiously and another for messing around with. Just a thought. reply
