A week or two ago I recall a conversation during a game of Galcon in which ThirdParty said that one reason he bought the game was because he could listen to music while playing.  However, he soon realized that the game is so intense that he couldn't bear the noise distraction in the room.  Lukem thought he might give silence a try and see if it improved his game at all.  I've given both a try, and the verdict is:  GOOD music!  There is Galcon-playing music and then there is everything else.  So what, you may ask, is the BEST Galcon music?

THE OLDE BATTLEAXE TECHNO REVIVAL!!!

This album is, without a doubt, the ultimate music for this game.  Why?  Because it was made by the one, the only Phil "The Man" Hassey (along with my brother Tim who is usually completely worthless and an embarrassment to the family except for this one accomplishment in his otherwise useless existence).  It's a great album, and somehow it's got this awesome karma with Galcon that makes it excellent background music, but I guess that makes sense since Phil made both the game and the album.  Find "The Olde Battleaxe Techno Revival" at www.theoldebattleaxe.com or http://cdbaby.com/cd/oldebattleaxe

I like anything with a quick beat so that it helps me continue to click furiously.  When I used to play STarcraft and Warcraft 3 in college I never used hotkeys, people would mock me for it, but I was so quick and would have like 70,000 interface clicks a game.

I wonder what it is for a typical Galcon game?  maybe 3,000?

I listen to the news.  I find it gets me suitably enraged to fuel my planet conquest needs.
